Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) today released the following statement after House passage of H.R. 7, the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion and Abortion Insurance Full Disclosure Act of 2017. H.R. 7 codifies the Hyde Amendment, which bars the use of federal funds for abortions in Appropriations legislation and was first enacted in 1976:
“Human life is sacred, and as a staunch defender of life, I am proud to vote in favor of H.R. 7. After more than thirty years of this essential provision being included in annual appropriations bills, I welcome the opportunity to send this bill to the desk of a pro-life President who shares our dedication to protecting the unborn and ensure once and for all that tax dollars are not funding abortions.”
Congressman Steve Womack has represented Arkansas’s Third Congressional District since 2011 and serves on the House Appropriations Defense, Military Construction-Veterans Affairs, and Labor-Health and Human Services subcommittees and the House Committee on the Budget.
