Womack Continues Call for Permanent Highway Funding Solution

Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) today released the following statement after House passage of H.R. 3038, the Highway and Transportation Funding Act of 2015, Part II, which extends the programmatic and expenditure authority of the Highway Trust Fund (HTF) through December 18, 2015, and authorizes appropriations for federal-aid highway, highway safety, and public transportation programs:

“We desperately need a long-term highway funding bill, and it is frustrating that a permanent, sustainable, and agreeable revenue source still evades Congress.  Arkansas’s roads and bridges are in dire need of repair, and they are not waiting for Congress as they continue to crumble.  I remain committed to finding a long-term solution but believe that we must provide states some level of certainty to prevent a critical interruption in transportation investment while we work towards returning solvency and dependability to the Highway Trust Fund once and for all.”

Congressman Steve Womack has represented Arkansas’s Third Congressional District since 2011 and serves on the House Appropriations Defense, Financial Services and General Government, and Labor-Health and Human Services subcommittees and the House Committee on the Budget.
