On Monday night, May 2, President Obama issued a major disaster declaration for the State of Arkansas. The state is set to receive Federal funds to help with recovery efforts after a recent series of severe storms, tornadoes, and flooding that caused extensive damage and loss of life

On Monday night, May 2, President Obama issued a major disaster declaration for the State of Arkansas. The state is set to receive Federal funds to help with recovery efforts after a recent series of severe storms, tornadoes, and flooding that caused extensive damage and loss of life. The information below explains how the registration process should go.

Ø  How To Register:

·       Telephone—1-800-621-FEMA (3362), TTY (800) 462-7585 for individuals with speech or hearing disabilities. 

·       Internet—Individuals may apply for disaster assistance online at www.DisasterAssistance.gov.

·       Smartphone— The mobile website m.fema.gov allows the public to register with FEMA and easily access disaster-related information directly on their web-enabled device.

*Individual Assistance can include temporary housing assistance for eligible applicants such as rental assistance and repair assistance. . 

 

Congressman Steve Womack released this statement following the president’s announcement:

 

    “The Third District and the rest of the state saw a series of severe thunderstorms which produced tornadoes, hail and flash flooding. These storms damaged businesses, destroyed homes and took lives. But in every case, Arkansans showed what they’re made of—resilience and determination. From the First District to the Fourth, we are all Arkansans and our thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected.”
