WASHINGTON—On Friday, the House passed Rep. Paul Ryan’s (R-WS) FY2012 budget plan 235-193 vote. Only four Republican members voted against the proposal which would cut both spending and the deficit by trillions of dollars, restructure the tax code and reform Medicare and Medicaid—making them viable programs for future generations.

Congressman Steve Womack voted in favor of the FY12 budget and released this statement shortly after the vote:

“We’ve changed the conversation in Washington.  It’s not about more spending; it is about shrinking the size of government and taking the necessary steps to ensure our nation’s solvency going forward.

“As I have said since I announced my candidacy for this job over a year ago, we must do what it takes to create jobs in America and I believe it begins with our balance sheet.  The budget I supported today is evidence of that commitment to fiscal accountability.  There’s nothing more important to me right now than securing our nation’s future.”
