WASHINGTON, D.C. — September 4, 2025… Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) today voted in support of the Fiscal Year (FY) 2026 Energy and Water Development and Related Agencies Appropriations bill that passed the U.S. House of Representatives. This bill allocates $57.3 billion in discretionary spending for agencies and programs that safeguard U.S. national security, unleash American energy dominance, and advance economic competitiveness.
Congressman Womack said, “Energy security is national security. By unleashing American-made energy and critical mineral production, we can lower domestic energy costs while supporting our allies and countering foreign influence around the globe. At the same time, strengthening our national security also means investing in the modernization of our nuclear weapons arsenal, ensuring the United States remains the world leader in cutting-edge defense technology. This bill delivers on those priorities, and I’m proud the House was able to come together and pass it."
Bill highlights:
Increases funding for critical mineral research and development at the Department of Energy to unlock the full suite of production technologies and unleash American energy dominance.
Increases funding for the Department of Energy’s nuclear energy programs, including $253 million for the Advanced Reactors Demonstration Program.
Cuts Biden-era green energy programs by $1.6 billion.
Enhances investment in cybersecurity, energy security, and emergency response, to ensure the electric grid is resilient in the face of cyberattacks, physical attacks, and other disruptions.
Supports state water infrastructure by providing $6.14 billion for the Army Corps of Engineers to support Corps properties, such as Beaver Lake.
Funds Army Corps of Engineers flood and storm damage reduction activities to support communities, like Northwest Arkansas, impacted by severe weather.
Provides robust funding for the National Nuclear Security Administration, including $20.66 billion for weapons activities and $1.98 for preventing the proliferation of nuclear weapons and materials.
Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) has represented Arkansas’s Third Congressional District since 2011. He is a member of the House Appropriations Committee.
