Washington, DC – March 23, 2023…Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) held his first House Appropriations Subcommittee on Financial Services and General Government (FSGG) hearing as Chairman on President Biden’s Fiscal Year 2024 budget request and the economic outlook of the nation. Biden’s top financial officials, Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen and Office of Management and Budget Director Shalanda Young, were witnesses. Chairman Womack said, “This hearing had not occurred in over a decade, and it could not have been timelier as we are in the midst of great economic turmoil. Democrats’ reckless spending has led to 40-year high inflation and contributed to the current banking crisis impacting our financial system. President Biden’s bloated budget doubles down on this unsustainable trajectory, and hardworking American taxpayers are paying the price. My colleagues and I will take a hard look at the President’s proposal and find reasonable and responsible solutions to put our fiscal house in order.” A document of Chairman Womack’s testimony as prepared can be found here, and a recording of the hearing can be found here. Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) has represented Arkansas’s Third Congressional District since 2011. He is a member of the House Appropriations Committee. ### |
