Womack Protects America's Strategic Petroleum Reserve from China
Washington,
January 12, 2023
Washington, DC—January 12, 2023….Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) today voted for the Protecting America’s Strategic Petroleum Reserve from China Act, legislation prohibiting the Secretary of Energy from sending petroleum products from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) to China or any entity that intends to export it to China. The bill passed the House by a bipartisan vote of 331-97. Congressman Womack said, “President Biden raided the Strategic Petroleum Reserve to try and disguise the consequences of his anti-American energy agenda. Our emergency stockpile is at lows not seen since the ‘80s because of it. National security—not approval ratings—should always be the priority. This bill stops the White House from further draining the SPR and selling barrels to China, which now boasts the largest government-controlled stockpile. We shouldn’t be ceding U.S. leadership to our adversaries.” The Protecting America’s Strategic Petroleum Reserve from China Act:
Womack has long been a promoter of strengthening domestic energy and protecting industry jobs. He’s continually called on the White House to reverse its regulatory attack on U.S. energy production. His actions include advocating to end the federal freeze on all new oil and gas projects, fast-track pending LNG export permits, expedite approval of all pipeline and energy development, and rescind unilateral mandates straight out of the Green New Deal playbook. His priority is advancing an all-of-the-above energy strategy. Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) has represented Arkansas’s Third Congressional District since 2011. He is a member of the House Appropriations Committee. ### |
