Washington, D.C. – House Budget Committee Chairman Steve Womack issued the following statement after he was appointed by Speaker Paul Ryan to the Joint Select Committee on Budget and Appropriations Process Reform, a bipartisan and bicameral panel of 16 lawmakers tasked with identifying and recommending reforms to the budget process.
“Making bold and lasting reforms for the benefit for our grandchildren and generations beyond is what I came to Congress to do,” said Chairman Steve Womack. “Without question, the federal budgeting process is broken. As conversations begin in the days ahead, I am optimistic about the potential for significant reforms that make our government function better for the American people.”
After appointing Chairman Steve Womack to the Joint Select Committee on Budget and Appropriations Process Reform, Speaker Paul Ryan provided the following statement.
“In the military, in Arkansas, and in Congress, Steve is a proven leader,” said Speaker Paul Ryan. “As Chairman of the House Budget Committee and an appropriator, he has unique insight into all aspects of our federal budgeting process. I am confident that his experience – combined with his passion for budgetary reform – will be an asset in developing the reforms necessary to make Washington work.”
