WASHINGTON– Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) today released the following statement after the House voted in favor of another short-term funding extension:
“The House Republican Conference had its hands tied today as we advanced another continuing resolution- this time to ensure funding through February 16. The bill provides a six-year extension for the Children’s Health Insurance Program, funds our national defense, and delays arduous Obamacare taxes from taking effect. I am glad to see small victories within, but I have noted countless times that this method of governing is extremely irresponsible. Nevertheless, I refuse to let a government shutdown be the only option and I remain confident that Congress can still find a way to pass long term funding.”
Congressman Steve Womack has represented Arkansas’s Third Congressional District since 2011. He serves as the Chairman of the House Committee on the Budget and is a member of the House Appropriations Defense, Military Construction-Veterans Affairs, and Labor-Health and Human Services subcommittees.
