Womack Votes to Lift Crude Export Ban

Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) today released the following statement after supporting House passage of H.R. 702, a bill to adapt to changing crude oil market conditions and lift the crude oil export ban:

“Since I was elected to Congress, I have supported an all-of-the-above approach to our nation’s energy policy; the passage of this important legislation continues that record with the repeal of an outdated and economically-stifling ban.  This isn’t partisan rhetoric – in fact, the respected, non-partisan Congressional Budget Office has estimated that enacting H.R. 702 will return $1.4 billion of economic benefit to the American people.  Lower prices for Arkansans, the creation of thousands of jobs, and millions in economic benefits nationwide – I am proud to not only support these goals, but also cosponsor the lift of the crude oil export ban.”

Congressman Steve Womack has represented Arkansas’s Third Congressional District since 2011 and serves on the House Appropriations Defense, Financial Services and General Government, and Labor-Health and Human Services subcommittees and the House Committee on the Budget.
