ICYMI: Womack Addresses Farm Bill on House Floor

In a speech on the House Floor, Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) today addressed the farm bill.  The conference report was subsequently approved in the House with a bipartisan vote of 251-166.  In addition to reducing mandatory spending by $23 billion, the conference report makes important reforms to farm and food programs.

“For me, it would be easy to vote against this conference report.  But unlike my Senate counterparts, I recognize that – in divided government – each side has to find common ground.  Ultimately, this report – like many of the other bipartisan agreements that have been signed into law – moves the ball forward by making much-needed reforms to federal programs and reducing spending.

“That’s why, in the end, I will support it.”
