Chairman Womack Holds Hearing on DOT and HUD Efficiency

WASHINGTON, D.C. — March 5, 2026… Today, House Appropriations Transportation, Housing and Urban Development (THUD), and Related Agencies Subcommittee Chairman Steve Womack (AR-3) led a public hearing with the Deputy Inspector General of the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) Mitch Behm and the Acting Inspector General of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Brian Harrison serving as witnesses. Both individuals lead efforts to promote government efficiency and prevent waste, fraud, and abuse of federal dollars in their respective agencies.

Chairman Womack delivered the following
remarks during the hearing, “One of our fundamental roles as members of the Appropriations Committee is to make sure that the departments and agencies we support perform their mission for the benefit of the American public. We rely on your offices to assist us in that effort. When you find instances of waste, fraud, and abuse at your agencies, it helps us better refine our appropriations. When you find programs operating successfully, it gives us confidence in continuing our funding for such activities.”
