Womack Votes for SAVE America Act to Safeguard Federal Elections
Washington,
February 11, 2026
WASHINGTON, D.C.— February 11, 2026… Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) today voted in support of S. 1383, the “Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act” or “SAVE America Act”, which aims to safeguard federal election integrity by ensuring that voters are American citizens. Congressman Womack said, “The law is clear that the only people eligible to vote in our federal elections are U.S. citizens. The SAVE America Act provides the safeguards needed to help ensure this standard is upheld. Verifying that voters in the voting booth are American citizens protects the integrity of our nation’s time-honored tradition of free and fair elections. This bill strengthens public trust in our electoral institutions—an essential pillar of American democracy.” The SAVE America Act amends the National Voter Registration Act (NVRA) to require proof of citizenship to register an individual to vote in federal elections. The legislation also requires voters to show photo identification when casting a ballot and requires states to remove noncitizens from their voter rolls. Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) has represented Arkansas’s Third Congressional District since 2011. He is a member of the House Appropriations Committee. ### |
