Womack Votes to Strengthen U.S. Financial System, Combat the Flow of Drugs, and Support Critical Government Functions

WASHINGTON, D.C. — September 3, 2025… Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) today voted in support of the Fiscal Year (FY) 2026 Financial Services and General Government Appropriations bill that passed out of the House Appropriations Committee. This bill allocates $23.341 billion in discretionary spending to drive economic growth, protect American taxpayers, strengthen national security, support U.S. financial systems, combat the flow of drugs, and more.

Congressman Womack said, “It is imperative that our nation’s financial systems prioritize the interests of American citizens, not those of foreign adversaries. Taxpayer dollars should empower small business owners and entrepreneurs across the country, not benefit the Chinese Communist Party. To achieve this, our government must be properly equipped to rigorously vet foreign investments and defend against cyber threats. Furthermore, we must redouble our efforts to combat drug trafficking and make our government work as efficiently and effectively as possible. As a former Chairman of this subcommittee, I am proud to support this bill and look forward to its consideration by the full House.”

Bill highlights:

  • Codifies Trump’s Executive Orders to ensure taxpayer dollars are used as intended and root out waste, fraud, and abuse.
  • Protects Americans from deadly drugs like fentanyl by investing in the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) program to enhance drug interdiction activities and stop illicit substances from flowing into our communities.
  • Prohibits funds for unconstitutional or beneficial ownership reporting rules that are inconsistent with statutory consent.
  • Ensures that investments made in government and military retirement and savings plans are based on value and not climate activism criteria.
  • Strengthens cybersecurity initiatives across the federal government to stop foreign adversaries from hacking into our systems.
