Womack Votes to Advance Final Big Beautiful Bill Act

WASHINGTON, D.C. — July 3, 2025… Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) voted to advance the final version of President Donald Trump’s endorsed One Big Beautiful Bill Act to provide Americans tax relief; promote economic growth; prevent waste, fraud, and abuse; invest in our military; secure our border; unleash American energy; and more.

Congressman Womack said, “I’m proud to vote for this bill that delivers on the clear direction Americans gave us in November. This legislation protects hardworking Arkansans and families across the country from tax hikes —making permanent key provisions that help you provide for your family while also strengthening our national defense and border security to keep us safe and prosperous at home. Republicans have a tremendous opportunity to usher in a new era of American prosperity, and this one, big, beautiful bill is a giant step towards that.”

The One Big Beautiful Bill Act…

Provides tax relief and promotes economic growth by

  • Making the 2017 Trump tax cuts permanent—protecting the average taxpayer from a 22 percent tax hike.
  • Preserving lower tax rates and brackets.
  • Increasing the maximum doubled amount of the child tax credit by an additional $200 starting in tax year 2025 for a total of $2,200.
  • Providing additional tax relief: no tax on tips, overtime pay, car loan interest, and enhanced tax relief for seniors.
  • Making pro-growth policies like full and immediate expensing and R&D expensing permanent.

Prevents waste, fraud, and abuse by

  • Strengthening SNAP to enforce work requirements, thwarting eligibility for illegal aliens, and reducing erroneous payments made by states, saving billions.
  • Improving Medicaid accountability by requiring work for able-bodied adults and cost-sharing for those above the federal poverty line.
  • Ensuring Medicaid resources go to eligible recipients.

Invests in our military by allocating

  • $9 billion to improve servicemember quality of life, including pay, housing, healthcare, and family support.
  • $21 billion for munitions to replenish stocks, expand production, and increase domestic resources for missile defense.
  • $12 billion to enhance military readiness, infrastructure, and Special Forces capabilities.
  • $7 billion for air superiority, accelerating delivery of next-gen aircraft and autonomous systems.

Secures the border by investing

  • $46.5 billion to modernize and expand the border barrier system, completing 701 miles of primary wall and 900 miles of river barriers.
  • $4.1 billion to hire and train Border Patrol agents, with an additional $2 billion for retention and signing bonuses.
  • $6.1 billion for border security technology and screening.

Unleashes American energy to lower utility costs and strengthen our electric grid by

  • Ensuring robust onshore and offshore oil and gas, and coal leasing nationwide, including reinstating leases and requiring new lease sales.
  • Lowering oil, gas, and coal royalty rates—incentivizing production and reducing costs.
  • Rescinding wasteful spending on Green New Deal-style projects while streamlining development of American energy infrastructure.

Modernizes the nation’s aviation industry by

  • Allocating $12.5 billion to overhaul failing air traffic control systems.

Protects 2nd Amendment rights by

  • Removing the National Firearms Act (NFA) tax on suppressors and short barreled rifles— paving the way for the elimination of the NFA registry.
