Womack Statement on Rescissions Act
Washington,
June 12, 2025
WASHINGTON, D.C. — June 12, 2025… Today, Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) released the statement below regarding his vote in support of H.R. 4, the Rescissions Act of 2025, to approve the Trump Administration's rescissions request. Congressman Womack said, “One of my top priorities in Congress is ensuring that American taxpayer dollars are spent wisely, delivering the greatest possible benefit to the American people. My vote in support of today’s rescissions package reflects that commitment, especially as we face a startling deficit and debt. However, we should be careful not to cede Congress’ authority on appropriations to the Executive Branch. Recissions should be limited and targeted. The real challenge lies in mandatory spending, which has been running on autopilot for years and accounts for 70 percent of federal outlays. I’m encouraged by this step and look forward to continuing to address our sovereign debt crisis.” Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) has represented Arkansas’s Third Congressional District since 2011. He is a member of the House Appropriations Committee. ### |
