Washington, D.C. — May 22, 2025… Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) voted to advance President Donald Trump’s endorsed One Big Beautiful Bill Act to provide Americans tax relief and economic growth; prevent waste, fraud, and abuse; invest in our military, secure our border; unleash American energy; and more.

Congressman Womack said, “Passing this bill brings us one step closer to building on the taxpayer savings achieved during President Trump’s first term and much more. It protects American families from higher taxes and empowers them to build better lives for themselves and their loved ones. The bill also ensures critical programs like SNAP and Medicaid remain accessible and effective for those who truly need them. At the same time, it strengthens our national security by investing in our military, securing our borders, and tackling the illegal immigration crisis. The One Big Beautiful Bill Act…

Provides tax relief and economic growth by

• Making the 2017 Trump tax cuts permanent, preventing a 24 percent tax hike for Third District taxpayers and saving a typical family of four over $1,400.
• Preserving lower tax rates and brackets.
• Increasing the child tax credit by $500 through 2028.
• Providing additional tax relief: no tax on tips, overtime pay, car loan interest, and enhanced tax relief for seniors.

Prevents waste, fraud, and abuse by

• Strengthening SNAP to enforce work requirements, thwarting eligibility for illegal aliens, and reducing erroneous payments made by states, saving billions.
• Improving Medicaid accountability by requiring work for able-bodied adults and cost-sharing for those above the federal poverty line.
• Closing loopholes that allow illegal immigrants to enroll in Medicaid and ensuring resources go to eligible recipients.
• Enhancing Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM) transparency for seniors and expanding access to medications.

Invests in our military by allocating

• $9 billion to improve servicemember quality of life, including pay, housing, healthcare, and family support.
• $21 billion for munitions to replenish stocks, expand production, and increase domestic resources for missile defense.
• $12 billion to enhance military readiness, infrastructure, and Special Forces capabilities.
• $7 billion for air superiority, accelerating delivery of next-gen aircraft and autonomous systems.

Secures the border by investing

• $46.5 billion to modernize and expand the border barrier system, completing 701 miles of primary wall and 900 miles of river barriers.
• $4.1 billion to hire and train Border Patrol agents, with an additional $2 billion for retention and signing bonuses.
• $2.7 billion for border security technology, such as sensors, surveillance towers, and tunnel detection.

Unleashes American energy by

• Restoring quarterly lease sales for onshore oil and gas, along with mandatory geothermal lease offerings to enhance domestic energy production.
• Rescinding wasteful spending on Green New Deal-style projects while streamlining development of American energy infrastructure.
• Reversing Biden’ electric vehicle (EV) mandates and Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFÉ) standards for passenger cars and light trucks.

Modernizes the nation’s aviation industry by:

• Allocating $12.5 billion to upgrade failing air traffic control systems, ensuring stronger staffing levels and training.
