Chairman Womack Questions Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy at Budget Hearing

Washington, D.C.—May 14, 2025…Today, House Appropriations Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies (THUD) Subcommittee Chairman Steve Womack (AR-3) led a public hearing on the Department of Transportation's Fiscal Year 2026 budget request with U.S. Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy serving as witness.

THUD Chairman Womack delivered the following remarks during the hearing, “Mr. Secretary, I look forward to working with you to prioritize our nation’s vital infrastructure and transportation needs in Arkansas’s Third District and across the country while safeguarding hard-earned taxpayer dollars. I know our work on this subcommittee affects the safety, economic opportunity, and quality of life of every American – a duty I take seriously.”

House Appropriations Committee Chairman Tom Cole (OK-4) delivered the following remarks during the hearing, “As we advance the Fiscal Year 2026 process, effective investments in our nation’s transportation systems are a priority. Secretary Duffy’s team at DOT has already made great efforts to ensure we are directing taxpayer dollars to infrastructure and safety improvements that are worthwhile, taking a fine-toothed comb to thousands of funding decisions made by the previous administration.”
