Womack Statement on President Biden’s Budget Request
Washington,
March 11, 2024
Washington, DC—March 11, 2024…Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) released the following statement after President Biden released his FY25 budget proposal: “President Biden’s budget request is an unrealistic wish list that would further plummet our country toward insolvency. With a debt of over $34 trillion, failing to address the structural issues of our mandatory spending programs is irresponsible and dangerous for America’s fiscal trajectory. The amount we expect to spend servicing our debt is greater than the amount we plan to spend on our national defense—that is unacceptable. Runaway spending and tax gimmicks make hardworking Arkansans struggle more in our current poor economic climate. Instead, I expect the Republican-led House to focus on real solutions to our fiscal problems, such as promoting pro-growth policies, implementing commonsense reforms to mandatory spending programs, and reducing unnecessary, market-distorting spending on government subsidies.” |
