Womack Recognized as Guardian of Small Business

Washington, DC—September 15, 2022....The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) recognized Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) as a “Guardian of Small Business” for his continued leadership and strong voting record in support of small businesses.

Congressman Womack said, “Small businesses are the engine that drives our economy forward. They exemplify the hard work and entrepreneurial spirit synonymous with Arkansas. Supporting these job creators is one of my top priorities in Congress, and I’m duly focused on championing policies that strengthen main streets across the Third District and nation. It’s an honor to be recognized by NFIB for this work.”

“The NFIB Guardian of Small Business award is presented to Members of Congress who have proven themselves to be real champions of small business,” said NFIB President and CEO Brad Close. “This Congress, small businesses emerged from the COVID-19 pandemic but faced continual threats of high inflation, workforce shortages, and supply chain disruptions. These NFIB Guardians demonstrated strong support of small businesses on key issues. NFIB is unique in that we only represent small and independent businesses, and our members decide our policy positions. We are proud to recognize the elected officials from the 117th Congress who earned this distinction by taking pro-small business votes that supported an extension of the Paycheck Protection Program and opposed tax increases, new mandates, increased legal liability, and problematic employment law revisions that would have threatened Main Street’s economic recovery. NFIB commends Rep. Womack for earning the Guardian of Small Business Award.”

The NFIB’s Guardian of Small Business Award is the organization’s most prestigious legislative recognition. It is reserved for lawmakers who vote consistently with small businesses on key issues identified by small business owners.

Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) has represented Arkansas’s Third Congressional District since 2011. He is a member of the House Appropriations Committee.
