Womack Votes Against “Bernie Budget,” Reckless Spending Spree
Washington,
August 24, 2021
Washington, DC—August 24, 2021….Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) released the following statement after voting against the “Bernie Budget,” which would advance the reckless tax and spend agenda of the socialist left. The proposal calls for the highest sustained federal spending levels in American history and is being used as a tool to trigger the reconciliation process, which would allow Democrats to dodge the 60-vote threshold in the Senate and avoid bipartisan consensus: “We didn’t vote on a legitimate budget. This document is no blueprint to bring sanity to our nation’s fiscal trajectory. It’s a maneuver for Democrats—led by Senator Bernie Sanders and President Biden—to write themselves a check for trillions of taxpayer dollars for their far-left agenda. The out-of-control expansion of government and spending guarantees more inflation, taxes, and an incomprehensible debt burden left to future generations.” Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) has represented Arkansas’s Third Congressional District since 2011. He is a member of the House Appropriations Committee. ### |
