Womack Stands with Israel, Condemns Hamas Terror

Washington, DC—May 20, 2021….Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) this week reaffirmed his strong support of Israel by both cosponsoring legislation and sending a letter to President Biden condemning the Hamas rocket attacks and expressing the need for an unwavering defense of our steadfast ally in the Middle East.

Congressman Steve Womack said, “Like all people, the Jewish state has the right to exist free from terror. The deadly and unwarranted rocket attacks being perpetrated by Hamas—an Iranian-backed terrorist organization—are dangerous provocations. Our nation must stand firmly with Israel in its right to self-defense against aggressors. The White House should not ignore the serious implications of these assaults. I implore President Biden to reverse course on our weak posture and planned return the Iran Nuclear Deal. It has emboldened bad actors in the region and helped lead to the situation at hand.”

Supported initiatives include:

  • H. Res. 396: Rep. Womack cosponsored this resolution, which reaffirms American support for the state of Israel and condemns the deadly attacks initiated by the Islamic terrorist organization Hamas. It also recognizes that Israel has the right and responsibility to protect itself and its citizens from all forms of terrorism.
  • Israel Letter to President Biden: Rep. Womack joined Rep. Michael McCaul, Ranking Member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, and other members in sending a letter to President Biden urging the United States to prioritize helping our ally defend itself from Hamas and other threats, as well as cutting off the support to Hamas that enables them to kill and injure Israeli and Palestinian civilians. The letter also asks President Biden to uphold his commitment to placing no conditions on U.S. aid to Israel.

Womack has made strengthening the U.S.-Israel alliance a priority during his time in Congress. He has continually backed military assistance that supports the safety of Israeli citizens and stability in the region. Furthermore, he feels a maximum pressure campaign against bad actors, including Hamas and Iran—a known state sponsor of terror—is necessary to stop an escalation of violence. He staunchly opposes President Biden’s plan to return to the flawed Iran Nuclear Deal, which will only embolden this rogue regime and its proxies to pursue the use of ballistic missiles, support terrorists, and carry out horrific human rights violations.

Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) has represented Arkansas’s Third Congressional District since 2011. He is a member of the House Appropriations Committee.
