Womack Blasts Partisan Democrat “Budget,” Far-Left Policies

Washington, DC – February 3, 2021….Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) released the following statement after voting against H.Con.Res. 11, the Fiscal Year 2021 budget resolution produced by Democrats. This resolution is a shell “budget,” empty of any real long-term, comprehensive budgeting. Despite calls for unity, the vote is being used to trigger the partisan reconciliation process, which would allow the Democrats to pass President Biden’s misguided stimulus plan without having to negotiate with Republicans:

“After neglecting to produce a budget for the past two years, House Democrats can’t even try to pretend tonight’s vote is about advancing a legitimate fiscal blueprint. I have written a budget and know the procedures. This is a mockery of the process—and even calling this document a budget is disingenuous, to say the least. It’s nothing more than the first step in the Pelosi-Schumer led strategy to implement President Biden’s far-left agenda through reconciliation. They are eager to use this maneuver to dodge the 60-vote threshold in the Senate and avoid bipartisan consensus. My colleagues on the other side of the aisle would rather masquerade their liberal policy priorities as coronavirus relief than work together.”

Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) has represented Arkansas’s Third Congressional District since 2011. He is a member of the House Appropriations Committee.
