Womack Appointed to Critical House Appropriations Subcommittees
Washington,
January 28, 2021
Washington, DC – January 28, 2021….Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) today announced his appointments to the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Financial Services and General Government (FSGG) – where he will serve as Ranking Member – Subcommittee on Defense, and Subcommittee on Transportation, Housing and Urban Development (THUD) during the 117th Congress. He has served on the powerful House Appropriations Committee, which is responsible for appropriating funding for the federal government and conducting critical oversight of federal agencies, since 2011. Congressman Womack said, “The power of the purse is a bedrock responsibility of Congress—and I’m honored to continue my service on the House Appropriations Committee. My roles on these subcommittees will uniquely position me to strengthen our financial and small business efforts, enhance national defense, and address the vital infrastructure needs of Arkansas. My duty remains fighting for the Third District and safeguarding hard-earned tax dollars from a socialist spending agenda. It’s also imperative we end the cycle of last-minute packages and never-ending continuing resolutions by bringing a renewed focus to budgetary discipline and appropriations process reform. I look forward to working with Ranking Member Granger and my other colleagues on these important priorities.” House Appropriations Committee Republican Leader Kay Granger said, “Now, more than ever, we need focused leaders to guide decisions on critical funding legislation. Congressman Womack’s unmatched skills in budgeting and appropriations, alongside his background as a veteran, former mayor, and businessman, have well-equipped him for these subcommittee positions. He’s a long-standing asset to this committee and Arkansas. I look forward to our continued partnership as we work to fulfill our duty to the American people.” To learn more about the jurisdiction of each subcommittee, click the below links: Subcommittee on Financial Services and General Government (Ranking Member) Subcommittee on Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) has represented Arkansas’s Third Congressional District since 2011.
