Congressman Womack Supports Troops, U.S. National Security
Washington,
December 28, 2020
Washington, DC—December 28, 2020….Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) released the below statement after supporting our troops and national security by voting to override the executive veto of the William M. (Mac) Thornberry National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2021. The legislation, which contains several Womack-supported provisions, authorizes $740.5 billion for national defense initiatives. It includes resources to equip our troops, support military families, enhance defense capabilities, strengthen military readiness, and modernize the force: “The NDAA is vital to the security of our nation and supports the men and women in uniform who stand watch over freedom. This year’s legislation contains raises for our troops, bolsters cybersecurity defenses, confronts emerging threats from China and Russia, and invests in Arkansas’s military installations. It enhances the safety and defense of our homeland and ensures our armed forces remain the most superior fighting force in the world. I agree that we need to reform Section 230 policy provisions, but opposing this legislation is not the right way to address it. We can’t deprive our military of the resources needed to secure our country and put us on a stronger path forward.” Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) has represented Arkansas’s Third Congressional District since 2011. He serves as the Ranking Member of the House Committee on the Budget and is a member of the House Appropriations Committee. ### |
