Womack Receives Empowering Kids Award for Outstanding Community Partner

Washington, DC—September 10, 2020….Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) today received the ‘Empowering Kids Award for Outstanding Community Partner’ from the Children's Advocacy Center (CAC) of Benton County. The honor recognizes his longstanding work to support the CAC’s mission of empowering and helping children.

Congressman Womack said, “Our community is strong because of the people who answer the call to help others. The Children’s Advocacy Center does that each day. I am incredibly grateful and honored to receive this award – but the real heroes are the staff of the Children’s Advocacy Center. Their work truly changes lives and provides healing and support to children in need. It is my privilege to work alongside them and support Arkansas’s future by protecting the most vulnerable among us.”

Natalie Tibbs, Executive Director of the CAC of Benton County, said, “Representative Womack has stood as a tireless leader for the CAC from our start, and he has continually encouraged others to get involved to help children in need. From his time as Mayor of Rogers – and now as a Congressman – he’s always supported efforts to eliminate child abuse and protect children in our community. We are beyond grateful for the continued and faithful support of Congressman Womack to the CAC and, most importantly, to the children.”

Throughout the past 20 years, Congressman Womack has steadfastly worked with the Children's Advocacy Center (CAC) of Benton County. During the virtual award presentation, CAC leadership noted his work that aided the creation of the Cherishing Children Pinwheel Rally, direct and sustained contact with staff, consistent advocacy to bring awareness to organization services, and support to help the CAC expand to a satellite facility. Additionally, you can watch a message from Rep. Womack accepting the award here.

The CAC of Benton County is a nonprofit that provides a safe place for child abuse victims and their families to receive comprehensive services, including child advocacy, medical examinations, forensic interviews, counseling, and abuse prevention education, in a child-friendly atmosphere. Their mission is to increase the ability of child abuse victims and their non-offending family members to lead lives free of abuse and the trauma they have experienced.

Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) has represented Arkansas’s Third Congressional District since 2011. He serves as the Ranking Member of the House Committee on the Budget and is a member of the House Appropriations defense and transportation, housing and urban development subcommittees.
