Arkansas Lawmakers Announce $3.2 Million Grant for Rogers Airport

Washington, DC—July 24, 2020….Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3)—along with U.S. Senators John Boozman and Tom Cotton—today announced that Rogers Executive Airport will receive $3,214,278 in federal grant funds from the U.S. Department of Transportation. The investment will be used for infrastructure improvements, including taxilane and taxiway enhancements and repairs.

The members said, “Local airports are a vital part of our communities, and this investment will improve safety and infrastructure at Rogers Executive Airport. Importantly, the funding brings much-needed certainty that critical upgrades and operations can continue as we work to recover from the impacts of the pandemic.”

David Krutsch, Rogers Executive Airport Manager, said, “We are extremely thankful for this critical infrastructure investment to support the region’s growth.   The funding will be used to address multiple safety issues, reconstruct aged and deteriorated taxiway pavement, and expand airfield access to help accommodate the growing demand for aircraft storage and hangar development.”

The grants will be disbursed through the Federal Aviation Administration’s Airport Improvement Program (AIP), which provides grants for the planning and development of public-use airports that are significant to national air transportation. A portion of these AIP funds were made available under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act.

The CARES Act—which became law with the support of the Arkansas delegation—includes $10 billion in economic relief funds for airports nationwide.

Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) has represented Arkansas’s Third Congressional District since 2011. He serves as the Ranking Member of the House Committee on the Budget and is a member of the House Appropriations defense and transportation, housing and urban development subcommittees.
