Arkansas Delegation Applauds Emergency Declaration for State from Flooding and Severe Storms

Washington, DC – May 31, 2019…U.S. Senators John Boozman and Tom Cotton—along with Congressmen Rick Crawford, French Hill, Steve Womack and Bruce Westerman—announced that President Donald Trump has issued an emergency declaration for Arkansas, allowing the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to provide assistance for emergency protective measures for 16 counties: Arkansas, Chicot, Conway, Crawford, Desha, Faulkner, Franklin, Jefferson, Johnson, Lincoln, Logan, Perry, Pope, Pulaski, Sebastian and Yell. “We are pleased with President Trump’s quick response for federal assistance to Arkansas. This declaration is critical to protecting Arkansans, preventing further damage and improving public safety,” members said. On Wednesday, the Arkansas Congressional Delegation wrote a letter to President Trump and other administration officials urging them to support Governor Asa Hutchinson’s call for an emergency declaration.
