Womack Statement on Passage of Farm Bill

Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) released the following statement after passage of H.R. 2, the Agriculture and Nutrition Act of 2018. H.R. 2 reauthorizes essential food and farm programs for five years, addressing commodity and crop assistance, conservation, agricultural trade, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, agricultural credit, rural development, forestry, and agricultural research.

“Agriculture is critical to the Arkansas economy, and the top two farm income counties in Arkansas are in the Third District.  A vibrant farm economy is essential to the Third District, and farm policy plays a key role in the success of our farming community. I am pleased that this important legislation has finally passed the House after being caught in the crossfire of an unrelated issue last month, and call on the Senate to move swiftly to aid our nation’s producers.”

Congressman Steve Womack has represented Arkansas’s Third Congressional District since 2011. He serves as the Chairman of the House Committee on the Budget and is a member of the House Appropriations defense, military construction-veterans affairs, and labor-health and human services subcommittees.
