Womack Addresses Opioid Crisis
Washington,
June 15, 2018
Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) today released the following statement after the House passed dozens of bills this week aiming to improve the nation’s response to the growing opioid epidemic by focusing on treatment and recovery, prevention, protecting communities, and fighting fentanyl. These bills are part of bipartisan opioid packages going through the House and Senate this month. “There is no question how much harm and heartache the opioid crisis has caused families at home in Arkansas and across our nation. I am proud to support and vote for these pieces of legislation to help provide our communities the necessary resources and support they need to reinforce local efforts aimed at combatting this epidemic from all angles.”
Congressman Steve Womack has represented Arkansas’s Third Congressional District since 2011. He serves as the Chairman of the House Committee on the Budget and is a member of the House Appropriations defense, military construction-veterans affairs, and labor-health and human services subcommittees.
