Womack Statement on Advancement of Defense Spending Bill
Washington,
June 7, 2018
Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) released the following statement today after the advancement of the fiscal year 2019 Defense Appropriations bill out of subcommittee. This bill provides an increase of $17.1 billion above the fiscal year 2018 enacted level to support our troops on the front lines. “As our nation’s military evolves to adapt to the many emerging threats around the world, it is necessary to prepare our troops with training, resources, and stability to keep their focus downrange. This bill provides for the total force by ensuring the success of our missions, the safety of our people, and restoration of our military readiness. I look forward to swift consideration by the full Appropriations Committee and echoed support by the whole of the House.”
Congressman Steve Womack has represented Arkansas’s Third Congressional District since 2011. He serves as the Chairman of the House Committee on the Budget and is a member of the House Appropriations defense, military construction-veterans affairs, and labor-health and human services subcommittees.
