Womack Statement on Committee Passage of MilCon/VA Spending Bill

Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) released the following statement today after the House Appropriations Committee approved the fiscal year 2019 Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act (MilCon/VA) by a unanimous voice vote. The bill includes $96.9 billion in discretionary funding, $4.2 billion above current levels, to better equip our military installations and provide quality care to American veterans.

“The passage of this bill is proof of our committee’s dedication to appropriate the necessary resources for the care of those who served and the readiness of those who presently do. This bill delivers on our promise to support veteran families, provide high quality care for U.S. servicemen and women, and modernize the VA’s electronic health record system. Simply put, it will enhance our ability to fight current and emerging threats all the while ensuring accountability for taxpayer dollars.”

Congressman Steve Womack has represented Arkansas’s Third Congressional District since 2011. He serves as the Chairman of the House Committee on the Budget and is a member of the House Appropriations defense, military construction-veterans affairs, and labor-health and human services subcommittees.
