WASHINGTON — Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) released the following statement today after the advancement of the fiscal year 2019 Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies Appropriations (MilCon/VA) bill out of subcommittee. This bill provides an increase of $4.2 billion in discretionary dollars to adequately care for veterans and military families. “This bill is a testament to our subcommittee’s longstanding dedication to the warfighter, those who once wore the flag, and the families who have made serving possible. Increased appropriations for our military facilities and veterans’ services enhances readiness at home and abroad, emphasizes the commitment to proper care, and ensures taxpayer dollars are appropriately being used on our service members’ and veterans’ behalf through increased oversight. I look forward to swift consideration by the full Appropriations Committee and echoed support by the whole of the House.”
Congressman Steve Womack has represented Arkansas’s Third Congressional District since 2011. He serves as the Chairman of the House Committee on the Budget and is a member of the House Appropriations defense, military construction-veterans affairs, and labor-health and human services subcommittees.
