Womack: Now Is the Time to Pass E-fairness

WASHINGTON — Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) today released the following statement in support of the Remote Transaction Parity Act (RTPA) complementary preempting the Supreme Court’s ruling on Wayfair v. South Dakota:

“In its 1992 Quill decision, the Supreme Court said that Congress is ‘better qualified to resolve’ e-fairness. Having championed this issue since my election to Congress, I’m beyond frustrated that we have not taken up the Court’s challenge – to the detriment of our Main Street businesses and local governments. Congress should not rely on the Supreme Court to do its job. I urge my colleagues to act now on this important legislation, which provides proper protections for small business and necessary guidance, while empowering states to simply collect what they are already owed.”

Congressman Steve Womack has represented Arkansas’s Third Congressional District since 2011. He serves as the Chairman of the House Committee on the Budget and is a member of the House Appropriations Defense, Military Construction-Veterans Affairs, and Labor-Health and Human Services subcommittees.
