Womack to Chair Joint Select Committee on Budget Process Reform

Washington, D.C. – House Budget Committee Chairman Steve Womack issued the following statement after he was named the Republican chair of the Joint Select Committee on Budget and Appropriations Process Reform, a bipartisan and bicameral panel of 16 lawmakers tasked with identifying and recommending reforms to the budget process. Womack is also a member of the House Appropriations Committee and was appointed to the select committee by Speaker Paul Ryan on Friday, February 23, 2018.

“It is truly an honor to be chosen to lead this important panel,” said Chairman Steve Womack. “The formation of this select committee represents a unique opportunity to discuss and develop responsible solutions that are not only bicameral but truly bipartisan. I look forward to working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle, and I am optimistic that together we can make our government function better for the American people.”
