Washington, D.C. – House Budget Committee Chairman Steve Womack issued the following statement after the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) today released President Donald Trump’s budget request for fiscal year 2019.
“Today marks the beginning of the fiscal year 2019 budget process with the receipt of President Trump’s official request. The House Budget Committee will carefully consider its recommendations as we begin writing our budget resolution,” said Chairman Steve Womack. “Later this week, I look forward to hearing directly from OMB Director Mick Mulvaney. Without question, the President’s budget acknowledges the grave financial state of our country. However, in order to slow down and pay down the nation’s unsustainable debt, balancing the budget should always be the goal. Doing so remains the goal of our committee.”
Chairman Womack and members of the Committee will conduct a hearing on the President’s budget request with OMB Director Mick Mulvaney on Wednesday, February 14, 2018, at 10:00 am. Live stream will be available here.
