WASHINGTON- Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) today released the following statement after federal funding was forced to lapse:

"It is regrettable that Senator Schumer and his Democrat colleagues have taken the government hostage over an insatiable desire to expedite protections for undocumented immigrants. Failing to fund our government, ignoring the plight of states running out of resources for children’s health insurance, and jeopardizing our national security apparatus is an abdication of duty. Their demands are not only unreasonable, they are downright dangerous to our nation.”

Congressman Steve Womack has represented Arkansas’s Third Congressional District since 2011. He serves as the Chairman of the House Committee on the Budget and is a member of the House Appropriations Defense, Military Construction-Veterans Affairs, and Labor-Health and Human Services subcommittees.
