Two-Week Continuing Resolution Passes House

WASHINGTON– Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) today released the following statement after the House voted in favor of a short-term funding extension:

“This afternoon, I voted in favor of the short-term continuing resolution (CR) that will fund our government through December 22. I have often noted that I don’t like this kind of legislating, and I am disappointed that we have come to this point as a Congress. I prefer we handle funding the government separate from other contentious issues, as originally intended, but the short-term CR is necessary for the House to reach an all-important deal on spending levels, particularly for our nation’s defense. I am hopeful this resolution will give Congress time to establish a path forward to fund the government and avoid a shutdown.”

Congressman Steve Womack has represented Arkansas’s Third Congressional District since 2011 and serves on the House Appropriations Defense, Military Construction-Veterans Affairs, and Labor-Health and Human Services subcommittees and the House Committee on the Budget.
