Womack Statement on Passage of Disaster Relief Funding
Washington,
September 6, 2017
Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) today released the following statement in response to the passage of H.Res. 502, Providing for the concurrence by the House in the Senate amendments to H.R. 601, with an amendment. [Amendment consists of the text of H.R. 3672, Making Supplemental Appropriations for Disaster Relief]: “I commend my colleagues in the House for recognizing the urgency of these funds. The flooding and damages caused by Hurricane Harvey are on a scale seen not even once in a lifetime, and our fellow Americans in Texas and beyond look to us now for timely help. “It is important that we in Congress understand the federal government's limited, yet vital role during disasters such as this and I stand beside my fellow appropriators to assess any disaster relief needs that may arise during the remainder of this hurricane season.” Congressman Steve Womack has represented Arkansas’s Third Congressional District since 2011 and serves on the House Appropriations Defense, Military Construction-Veterans Affairs, and Labor-Health and Human Services subcommittees and the House Committee on the Budget.
