Womack Statement on Healthcare Stall

Congressman Steve Womack (AR-03) today released the following statement regarding the struggles to pass healthcare legislation through both houses:

“Early this morning, the Senate failed in delivering a healthcare bill that would rid the country of the collapsing Obamacare mandates. I am deeply saddened that we have come to this point as a Congress. With an unfinished budget and eight stalled appropriations bills left to pass in the House alone, this is not the time to be taking a break for August recess.

How will we ever move forward to other congressional priorities such as tax reform if we don’t address these issues head-on, now? It is imperative for us to act – rather than sitting and waiting on the upper chamber, we must work as a unified conference at least in the House to not only deliver meaningful legislation, but to deliver real results for the American people. America deserves it. Arkansas deserves it.”

Congressman Steve Womack has represented Arkansas’s Third Congressional District since 2011 and serves on the House Appropriations Defense, Military Construction-Veterans Affairs, and Labor-Health and Human Services subcommittees and the House Committee on the Budget.
