Press Release: Womack Statement on Passage of H.J.Res. 43
Washington,
February 16, 2017
Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) today released the below statement after House passage of H.J.Res. 43, which disapproves of the Department of Health and Human Services rule that prohibits states from withholding Title X funding from a potential recipient for “reasons other than its ability to provide Title X services”:
“Like the vast majority of my constituents, I believe that life begins at conception, and I will always be committed to protecting it. I am proud to vote to restore states’ abilities to choose what entities receive Title X funding, allowing for health departments, hospitals, and federally qualified health centers to receive the funding that they so badly need while reflecting a state’s values rather than being forced to promote organizations – like Planned Parenthood – that do not.”
Congressman Steve Womack has represented Arkansas’s Third Congressional District since 2011 and serves on the House Appropriations Defense, Military Construction-Veterans Affairs, and Labor-Health and Human Services subcommittees and the House Committee on the Budget. |
