Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) released the following statement after the House and the Senate today successfully voted to override President Obama’s September 23, 2016 veto of the Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism Act (S. 2040), allowing families of the victims of the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks to sue the government of Saudi Arabia: “The overwhelming bipartisan support to override the President’s veto of the Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism Act exemplifies that Congress stands united against terrorism. The families who lost loved ones during the September 11 attacks deserve justice, and I am proud that we are able to give them their right to a day in court.” Congressman Steve Womack has represented Arkansas’s Third Congressional District since 2011 and serves on the House Appropriations Defense, Financial Services and General Government, and Labor-Health and Human Services subcommittees and the House Committee on the Budget. ### |
