Womack Statement on Passage of Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism Act

Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) today released the following statement after House-passage of the Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism Act (S. 2040):

“Today, the House unanimously passed the Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism Act, which permits legal action against a foreign state that aids or abets an act of terror that occurs on U.S. soil.  Anyone who knowingly sponsors terrorism should not be able to hide behind legal loopholes.  The families who lost loved ones during the horrific September 11 attacks deserve justice, and I believe this is an important step in that process.  My thoughts and prayers are with these families as they commemorate the 15th anniversary of this terrible tragedy.”

Congressman Steve Womack has represented Arkansas’s Third Congressional District since 2011 and serves on the House Appropriations Defense, Financial Services and General Government, and Labor-Health and Human Services subcommittees and the House Committee on the Budget.
