Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) today released the following statement after House passage of the Motion to Concur in the Senate Amendment to H.R. 2029 with House Amendment #1 – Consolidated Appropriations Act: “In any negotiation there is give and take, and I certainly would have liked to see more in this Omnibus agreement, including language to block some of President Obama’s most harmful policies such as Waters of the United States (WOTUS) and his plan to allow Syrian refugees into America. However, failing to provide for our men and women in uniform is simply not an option, and this bill does so while strengthening our nation’s security by tightening requirements under our visa waiver program and increasing funding for our troops as they prepare to face more radical and more complex enemies. I am hopeful that in the new year with the funding of government behind us, the House will quickly act to directly challenge the President’s most egregious policies.” Congressman Steve Womack has represented Arkansas’s Third Congressional District since 2011 and serves on the House Appropriations Defense, Financial Services and General Government, and Labor-Health and Human Services subcommittees and the House Committee on the Budget. ### |
