Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) today released the following statement in response to Chairman Paul Ryan (WI-1) announcing his willingness to serve as Speaker of the House, given the support of all major Republican caucuses, during a closed-door Republican Conference meeting:

"Now more than ever, it's imperative that Republicans come together to steer America down a more conservative path.  Our dysfunction has all but prevented this, and we are at risk of allowing President Obama's liberal legacy to become our own.  We need a leader who can unite us and help turn the course of our country around, and Paul Ryan is the right person for the job.  I fully support his candidacy."

Congressman Steve Womack has represented Arkansas’s Third Congressional District since 2011 and serves on the House Appropriations Defense, Financial Services and General Government, and Labor-Health and Human Services subcommittees and the House Committee on the Budget.
