Womack Statement on House Iran Plan

House Leadership today announced a plan to take three votes on the Iran Deal this week.  The first vote will be a House Resolution expressing that it is the sense of the House that President Obama did not submit all the necessary documents as required under law.  The second vote will give the House the opportunity to vote in favor of the Iran deal, and the third vote will prohibit President Obama from lifting Iran sanctions.  Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) released the following statement in response:

“This afternoon, House leadership outlined a three-vote path forward on the consideration of President Obama’s Iran deal – and I believe it is the correct plan of action.  This procedural course is necessary in order to send a message, loud and clear, from Congress – this is a bad deal, and we will do everything in our power to stop it from becoming a reality.  One vote alone does not strongly enough convey our disapproval, and after this series of votes, I am hopeful that President Obama will not be able to find a loophole through which to move the deal forward.”

Congressman Steve Womack has represented Arkansas’s Third Congressional District since 2011 and serves on the House Appropriations Defense, Financial Services and General Government, and Labor-Health and Human Services subcommittees and the House Committee on the Budget.
