Womack Takes Critical Votes for VA, Highways
Washington,
July 29, 2015
Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) today released the following statement after House passage of the VA Accountability Act of 2015 (H.R. 1994) and the Surface Transportation and Veterans Health Care Choice Improvement Act of 2015 (H.R. 3236): “The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is continuing to make great strides to right unacceptable practices occurring at VA hospitals across the country. With the legislation passed today, administrators and other employees of the VA system will be held to a higher standard – a standard that all of those who fought in defense of this great nation deserve. “At the same time, the House has worked to give our veterans more options for quality care through thoughtful expansion of the Veterans Choice Program, while also ensuring that Chairman Shuster and Chairman Ryan have the bandwidth necessary to fine-tune significant Highway Trust Fund reforms to ultimately bring certainty to our infrastructure without adding to our crippling debt. I am glad to put these meaningful VA reforms to rest and look forward to considering the long-term highway funding bill we desperately need.” Congressman Steve Womack has represented Arkansas’s Third Congressional District since 2011 and serves on the House Appropriations Defense, Financial Services and General Government, and Labor-Health and Human Services subcommittees and the House Committee on the Budget. ### |
