Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) today released the following statement after passage of H.R. 2685, the Department of Defense Appropriations Act, 2016, which provides the Department of Defense (DoD) $490.2 billion in discretionary funding and $88.4 billion for the Global War on Terror (GWOT) for fiscal year 2016: “From ISIL to Boko Haram, America faces new and growing threats daily. Now is not the time to weaken our military. That is why I am proud to support this thoughtful, well-crafted piece of legislation, which provides our troops with the equipment and training they require and the benefits and services they deserve, while also contributing to the GWOT account and providing our combatant commanders with the intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance capabilities they need to fight the ongoing war on terror and keep Americans safe at home.” Congressman Steve Womack has represented Arkansas’s Third Congressional District since 2011 and serves on the House Appropriations Defense, Financial Services and General Government, and Labor-Health and Human Services subcommittees and the House Committee on the Budget. ### |
