Womack Statement on DHS Funding VoteCongressman Steve Womack (AR-3) today released the following statement after voting against the passage of the Senate Amendment to H.R. 240, which makes appropriations for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) for the fiscal year 2015: “Our Founding Fathers gave Congress a tool to resolve legislative stalemates – the conference committee. It was one of their many strokes of genius. It’s extremely disappointing that Senate Democrats blatantly refused to use it in order to protect President Obama’s unconstitutional, unilateral actions on immigration. This is in direct disregard of the will of the American people, and I simply cannot support their repeated refusal to pursue regular order and continued ‘my way or the highway’ mentality. We must work together.” Congressman Steve Womack has represented Arkansas’s Third Congressional District since 2011 and serves on the House Appropriations Defense, Financial Services and General Government, and Labor-Health and Human Services subcommittees and the House Committee on the Budget. ### |
