Womack Applauds Hutchinson's Adjutant General Appointment

Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) released the following statement after Governor-Elect Asa Hutchinson (R-AR) today announced the appointment of Brigadier General Mark H. Berry to be Adjutant General of the Arkansas National Guard:

“General Berry is an accomplished officer and a proud Arkansan with the experience and knowledge to be a decisive leader for the National Guard. I applaud Governor-Elect Hutchinson’s appointment. His selection of an Air Guardsman to lead the Arkansas Guard is a reflection of the joint nature of today’s military, and I am wholeheartedly confident in General Berry’s ability to be an effective commander during this time of great uncertainty in the Guard. I congratulate him on this promotion!”

Congressman Steve Womack represents Arkansas’s Third Congressional District and serves on the House Appropriations Committee and the Defense, Financial Services and General Government, and Labor-Health and Human Services subcommittees.  In 2009, Congressman Womack retired with over thirty years of service from the Arkansas Army National Guard at the rank of Colonel.  His decorations include the Legion of Merit, the Meritorious Service Medal with oak leaf cluster, the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, and the Global War on Terror Expeditionary and Service Medals, and the Arkansas Distinguished Service Medals.
